The Secondary Art Team are delighted to announce that Academy 360 has been awarded the SILVER ARTSMARK AWARD by Arts Council England.
It has taken two years for us to achieve our Artsmark status. During this time we have achieved a lot, but there is still a lot for us yet to achieve. We have seen our school environment, and the activities we offer, enrich the whole learning experience for our students.
For example, students from Years 9, 10 & 11 successfully manned stalls at our Christmas Fayres. Hospitality students planned, organised, cooked and served a meal for parents and staff as part of their coursework requirements, with Graphic Communication students designing publicity material for events and photography students recording these events as part of their coursework requirements. A group of Year 10 students traveled to Newcastle to experience an exhibition of Leonardo Da Vinci’s original drawings during a study at the Laing Art Gallery.
However, besides Art & Design, other subjects such as Mathematics, English, History and PE include the provision of arts and culture in their teaching and learning. We’re proud that Academy 360 provides its students with the opportunity to strengthen personalisation and diversity – developing a life-long enjoyment of the arts and culture.
